Theatre Royal

“Little King Pippin or Harlequin Fortunatus and the Magic Wishing Cap” opened at the Theatre Royal in Broughton Street during the festive season in 1866. The show which starred Julia St George was the first pantomime to play at the theatre which had been rebuilt after being gutted by fire. The pantomime received excellent reviews and proved to be a great success. Julia St George died at the age of eighty in St Pancras Workhouse in 1903.
